To promote research and development in the manufacture and use of paints, lacquers, and related products, while providing educational activities and interchange of ideas among members. Improve products, eliminate wasteful methods of manufacture and foster manufacturing procedures and practices that minimize pollution of the environment. Disseminate information pertinent to the industries served, and facilitate work with other organizations, public and private, to accomplish these objectives
